Claire Bennet

Claire Bennet - RivelataHeroes Canon
NAME:
Claire Bennet
GENDER: Female
AGE: 17

FANDOM: Heroes
JOURNAL: oww_pavement

TIMELINE PERIOD: Taken from mid-How To Stop An Exploding Man, just as she died on the streets of New York after dropping several stories from an open window, mere moments prior to the November 8th explosion.
BACKGROUND:
Claire was born out of wedlock to Meredith Gordon after a short tryst with the elusive bigshot New York politician Nathan Petrelli. While she lives peacefully with her mother in their apartment for about a year, with parents like hers-- her father can fly-- it's hard to stay under the radar, and Primatech Paper-- the Company looking for the specials to bag and tag them in order to keep track of them all-- comes after Meredith, who is pyrokinetic. Meredith, however, starts a fire in the apartment and escapes, forced to leave Claire behind. At that point, the Company takes her into custody, and, wanting to see whether she would manifest, hand her over into the care of Noah Bennet, one of their best Company Men.

Under the pretense of a normal adoption, Claire grows up to be a normal girl with a normal life in Odessa, Texas. Her father works at a paper factory-- or so she thinks-- her mother breeds showdogs-- one of which is their own Pomeranian Mr. Muggles-- and she has an annoying adoptive younger brother. Claire herself is a popular girl at her High School, where she cheerleads. All of this comes to a head when she manifests her ability to regenerate from almost any mortal wound, healing herself rapidly.

At this point, she becomes a bit of an outcast while her father tries to hide any semblance of abnormalcy from her life to keep her from being taken into custody of the Company. But secrets as large as hers aren't easily kept hidden, and very soon, Noah's own background with the Company catching up to him, a long string of events lead to the Company discovering Claire's ability. In order to protect Claire, Noah lets his coworker and friend take her away to safety while he has his memory of Claire wiped, taking a bullet in his side to fool the Company into thinking that it wasn't set up.

On the way to a new life in Canada, Claire fools her traveling companion and ends up instead in New York to see Peter Petrelli, the man she's met on previous occasion when the notorious serial killer Sylar came after her to steal her amazing regenerative ability. Unbeknownst to her at the time, Peter is her uncle, brother to her father Nathan. With Peter at the time otherwise occupied, she instead runs into her grandmother Angela Petrelli who insists that she leave for Paris in order to stay safe. But in a miraculously grand display of the best laid plans, when the bomb fated to destroy New York November 8th nears and Peter almost dies because of Sylar, thereby reuniting Claire with both him and her biological father once more, things come to a climax relatively quickly.

At one point, she tries to escape from her biological grandmother and father and drops several stories onto the streets below, effectively (temporarily) killing her. At least... that's what would happen typically. Instead, this time she finds herself waking up and picking herself up from the decks of the ship headed to Rivelata instead of the streets of New York.

As a whole, Claire is stubborn, foolhardy, and, at the same time, deeply insecure and has an extreme penchant for getting herself into trouble and getting hurt. It's as if traumatic experiences and drama of all sorts seemingly follow her wherever she goes. Really, all she wants to do is be herself-- she's spent plenty of time trying to come to terms with her ability and who she is that at this point, she doesn't want to hide it anymore, rather, she wants to embrace it. She also puts huge emphasis on family-- she cares about her adoptive father more than anyone else. Due to her unique ability, she will always remain perpetually 16, effectively making her immortal as her cells regenerate on a constant basis, keeping her in an aging stasis of sorts while her mind continues to grow.

RIVELATA

Personality

In Rivelata, Claire has undergone a lot of changes. Formerly emotionally weak, foolhardy, stubborn, loud, and a huge people-pleaser, she's grown a lot since the former Dean's death. For this, mainly Hiruma Youichi is responsible, having told her never to give up. Since, she's become a lot more cunning and devious and manipulative, mainly out for herself and those close to her, her biggest drive being the cause of the rebellion.

Location
Having formerly lived with her uncle Peter Petrelli in a cramped apartment where she was thrown out of the bed thanks to his boyfriend Adam Monroe's presence there, then off the couch because of Mohinder Suresh's presence there, and onto a cot near the window, when Hiro Nakamura also moved in, Claire decided to up and leave, choosing to move in with her then-boyfriend Dean Winchester and his brother Sam Winchester. Since Sam's disappearance and Dean's death via Shadhavar, Claire has remained in the townhouse and has even gotten the new Winchester bro's to move in with her, although neither of them trust her and any hope for the old system, let alone normalcy has been achieved. Thankfully, Claire seems to have come to terms with this.

Relationships
At one point having been linked to one Cross Marian after being his "date" to the first ball and a little bit more the next morning, they never held anything stable, as Cross is commitment-phobic. This does not, however, mean that Claire was not emotionally attached to him, for some time, though she has since gotten over this, even if she still holds a soft spot for him somewhere.
After this, it seemed she got herself attached to Dean Winchester, and vice versa. After he saved her life during her second kidnapping and she moved in with him, their bond grew stronger, especially after Sam's disappearance. It was shortly after that that he was eaten by a Shadhavar.
It was shortly after this that she became friends with Hiruma Youichi and was motivated to start the rebellion in the first place. He is, at the moment, the only person who she truly feels like her old self around, as he was there to pick up the pieces after Dean died, however reluctant or unintentional this incident may have been. Still, they grew quickly as friends and fellow leaders of the rebellion, and it seemed that their ~*special bond*~ had been building for a while until the BLACKOUT JOURNAL INCIDENT and the following confrontation about mutual feelings. Despite both of them being quite eager to keep this on the down low, it seems that quite a few people have noticed something there, if only potential, and Max is probably the one that hounds them the worst about it. But that hardly means that there's much proof to go off of at this point, save for their banter and chemistry, and the inclination to act more like each other, Claire having turned almost frightening to most in light of this. However, it seems that since the incident at the Masquerade, that they've gotten a lot closer a lot faster than expected. They will go through moments until Hiruma will more or less freak out and run from the emotional connectivity, but the moments are certainly there. Especially recently, when, after having moved in together, Hiruma admits to her that he loves her.

Family
A few members of Claire's family seem to be in Rivelata with her, though she's by far closest to her uncle Peter Petrelli, even in spite of her own biological father Nathan Petrelli being there. She'd even go so far as to say that she's closer to Peter's friend and love interest Adam Monroe, who has somewhat taken on the role of a second, surrogate guardian to her alongside Peter. But lately, she's felt like she's losing Peter, and has stuck much more to Adam.

Friends
It seems that Claire is quite popular on the island and gets on well with quite a few people. Alongside her family, she seems to get on quite well with the people from her world, including her very own serial killer Sylar, aka Gabriel Gray,Mohinder Suresh, Hiro Nakamura, and of course Adam Monroe. But outside her world, Claire social circle spreads even wider. Within the rebellion's leadership council especially has she become close to quite a few people, especially Batman, Hiruma Youichi, and Maximum Ride. Quite a few other people could much better be considered allies as a general whole, or even acquaintances, though this hardly means that she doesn't have enemies, or, simply, people who aren't her biggest fans, as those, too, are great in number.
