Ah Grell. A butler to Madam Red who is shocked at every scandalous action his Madam executes. He is meek and submissive, and is somehow blamed for everything by the Madam whether it is his fault or not. (If it is for how terrible the tea is, then yes it is his fault.)


But that is not the 'real' Grell Sutcliff at all. In reality, Grell is a Shinigami whose role is to harvest souls. But the pace of the job bores the Shinigami and he decides to cut a deal with Madam Red. He will assist her, the 'real' Jack the Ripper, if she lets him have a little 'fun'. You see, his Shinigami
weapon (originally a scythe) has been skillfully modified into a chainsaw that he uses with great glee upon those the Madam has chosen to die.



The only reason Grell works with the Madam is that they share a somewhat similar longing. The Madam survived an accident that killed her unborn child and rendered her infertile. She is driven to kill women she deems unworthy of bearing children, such as prostitutes and those who come to her (a mid-wife) for abortions. Grell wishes he were able to have children, and of course a male biologically cannot carry a child. So together they are the one 'Jack the Ripper', unmasked by Sebastian and his Master Ciel.


A fight ensues of course, during which Grell lovingly proclaims his crush on Sebastian and his debonair persona (much to Sebastian's horror). He even refers to them as Romeo and Juliet.



Almost dying by his own chainsaw at the hands of Sebastian after a long and bloody fight, he is saved last minute by William- a member of the Dispatch Management Division for the Shinigami. He is dragged back to Headquarters by William using Grell's hair, to be punished for breaking several rules (one of which is unlawfully modifying the Shinigami weapon issued). Grell may be enamored by William, too.

He was sulking. Surely all he had done was not enough to warrant this kind of punishment? After all, he had just modified his weapon into a chainsaw- it wasn't his fault the standard issue was so plain! Oh and the deal with a human. That wasn't allowed. Alright, and neither were the deaths of all those women but it wasn't his fault the daily pace was so boring!

Grell huffed, curling into a tighter ball. William didn't have to go this far, did he? The redhead looked around himself. A dark, creaky cabin and a lumpy mattress. By the rocking motion, he deduced he was on a ship. He sat up, gasping.
"Oh no! What if I'm being ferried away from England? What will happen to my Romeo?"

A gruff bark, something about getting up on deck. Grell flinched. He had to play it safe now that he guessed William had probably orchestrated this. He didn't want to make William mad, although Grell thought he was rather handsome when a crease furrowed his brow. Stumbling out on deck, Grell shielded his eyes.

A tropical island? Well. This climate was nothing compared to Hell. However, to a native London man it still managed to shock. Grell propped his chin up on his hands, leaning over the railing. He mourned for Sebastian, his Romeo. And he mourned for William because he had sighed in disappointment and disapproval at Grell. Again.

"Oi, you!" That gruff, barking tone. Something about preparing to disembark. Grell wrinkled his nose. He didn't like being disturbed when musing about his two great loves. With a roar the chainsaw began to silence the gruff guard. And his comrades. Grell giggled, wiping his cheek before setting the chainsaw down and cleaning the splatters from his glasses.





The redhead is flamboyant, cheerful, flirtatious and a sadist with a happy disregard for sanity. His mood swings can go from cheery to irritated murderer in a heartbeat, but his trademark grin usually remains firmly in place.

He is very cheery and will try to befriend you instantly. Provided you avoid his chainsaw greeting.

Grell also happens to work for the darling Miss Penelo, at Penelo's Pastries as a baker specializing (though not limited to) meat pies. He loves and adores her as a little sister, constantly spoiling her with attention such as randomly pulling her into a hug, smothering her in kisses or starting flour-fights. Usually in that order.

After the confrontation and rescue, though they are on shaky terms Grell hopes he can repair his relationship with his precious Miss Penelo.
