Hitachiin Kaoru

Background (Pre-Rivelata):
The Hitachiin brothers were very lonely people until middle school, keeping to themselves under the pretense that no one else understood them - Kaoru went so far as to define Hikaru as "the one who is not me" and himself as"the one who is not Hikaru". Kaoru (left) and Hikaru (right)

At first, the twins were amused when Tamaki Suou took up their "Which One is Hikaru-kun? Game", but eventually grew bored when he kept getting it wrong. However, Tamaki (the Host Club King) promised to try to learn how to tell them apart, so they agreed to try out the Host Club and ended up sticking around.

Kaoru is arguably the more perceptive of the twins. He understands how and why the twins acted when they were children and can explain it to others; he is also very much in touch with the feelings of those around him, especially Hikaru's, and acts to the benefit of others more than himself. Where Hikaru is concerned, Kaoru tends to do things for Hikaru even without Hikaru realizing it. He has a flair for the spoken word (a "natural narrator" voice as I call it), somewhat poetic, and even indulges in magical or mystical analogies. Around Hikaru, he will mimic and go along with what Hikaru does, but alone is much more mellow.

Rivelata Update:
Kaoru upset and crying

At Queen Immaculada's ball, Kaoru's twin brother Hikaru was taken captive. The brothers had already been in the middle of a disagreement at the time, but the separation made Kaoru feel even more guilty for how he'd been acting -- very independently -- before Hikaru's capture.

Despite being able to communicate through the journals, Kaoru is still taking Hikaru's capture very hard. He has attempted to use poetry to cope, but it didn't really work, and his friends pushed him to help with the Rescue Mission in progress. Kaoru thinking

While the Mission has been hampered ever since Immaculada stopped the use of 'private' entries being made, Kaoru is now committed more than ever to helping out.

In particular, Kaoru has offered to help make disguises. This is mainly because the twins' project ever since arriving in Rivelata has been a little shop called Eagle's Splendour. It started out as just a tailoring business by a woman named Miss Ciel...
