NAME: James Potter
FANDOM: Harry Potter
TIMELINE PERIOD: 1976-ish. His 7th year, if that helps any.
BACKGROUND: Not much is known about James Potter's early childhood other than the fact that his parents were older when they had him, making him an 'extra treasure' also known as, spoiled out of his mind. In direct consequence of this, James was rather cocky and almost mean in his early years at Hogwarts and otherwise.

While at Hogwarts, James was a rather popular student, playing as Chaser on the Quidditch team. His best friends while attending Hogwarts were Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew and gave their group the pet name of the 'Marauders'. When James, Sirius and Peter found out that Remus was a werewolf, they set up to become Animagi (able to change form into an animal) so they could join him while he was a wolf; they finally succeeded in his fifth year. James' Animagus form was a stag and his nickname was 'Prongs' due to his antlers. The Marauders also made the Marauder's Map, which is a map of Hogwarts that tells you where anyone in it is at all times and shows all the secret passage ways and passwords.

James, being very popular and pampered, encountered an easy target in Severus Snape, with whom he shared a deep hatred. He regularly made fun of him, often using cruel nicknames like 'Snivellus' and using magic to mock him. Though, when Sirius played a joke on Severus and sent him to go see Remus while he was in werewolf form, he went in and saved his life, which only intensified Snape's hatred.

James has a rather obsessive infatuation with Lily Evans, who was a good friend to Snape. She regularly voices her opinion of him as a bullying bigot and seems to hate him almost as much as Severus his self.

It's a full moon on his 7th year of Hogwarts and Remus howled once at the moon, James as a stag tracking his movements with his eyes when suddenly all goes dark and James wakes up on a boat, a beat-up leather journal next to him and his clothes folded neatly by his side.
