Kisa Sohma is one of the three female members of the Sohma family affected by the curse of the Chinese Zodiac. The spirit that curses her is that of the tiger, and will transform into a tiger cub if under extreme emotional stress, or hugged by a member of the opposite sex.

The girl, barely twelve, underwent a period of silence during which she spoke to no one. This was caused by many factors, including the bullying of Kisa by her classmates because of her natural orange colored hair (orange, like the fur of a tiger). The already shy and timid girl then became even more withdrawn, and frightened to go to school because of the torment that awaited her there. The one person she thought she could turn to, a close childhood friend and also member of the Chinese Zodiac Curse, Hiro, seemed to be avoiding her as well.

He had confessed his love to the head of their family, and enraged the head of the family beat Kisa so severely it took her weeks to heal. This then traumatized Hiro, and he vowed to distance himself in order to keep Kisa safe.

Kisa's withdrawal got so severe she ran away from home, and as a tiger cub, slept in the bushes. She was found by a cousin, who loved her dearly, and together he and other family members tried to nurse her back to health. It was the outsider Tohru who helped break through Kisa's wall. She told her that she had all the love she would ever need, and the strength was inside of her to face any challenge.

Renewed by her words, and the love her cousins showed her, Kisa vowed to become stronger. She went back to school, determined to stand up to their bullying, because she accepted fully who she was.

Kisa took a deep breath, padding around the deck in her now scuffed loafers. Her uniform was a little torn and dirty, and she hadn't the slightest clue why. Gripping the wooden railing, the little girl propped up en pointe to peek over and survey her surroundings.

Was that an island in the distance?

Was this her punishment for sleeping in? Oh but she hadn't meant to! She had actually been looking forward to school now. Tohru and her family had helped piece her resolve back together. No longer was she afraid to be who she was. Perhaps she could not help that her hair was orange, like the tiger she was cursed with inside, but she could help her cowardice.

Yes, she would be brave this time!





Kisa is sweet, timid and friendly beneath a shy exterior. A little shaky on her feet, as she has just found her way through her personal darkness, but nevertheless she is willing to put up a brave front and rise to the occasion.

She has a habit of trailing you like a kitten if she is fond of you!

Kisa also works for the darling Miss Penelo, at Penelo's Pastries as an assistant and is often seen outside the store handing samples and inviting people into the shop.
