Selene's youth was that of a Hungarian farmgirl in the Dark Ages. Her father was a renowned architect, and he was commissioned to build a large fortress by a mysterious man known only as Viktor. After the fortress' completion, the architect's family were attacked in the night, seized upon by monstrous lycans (werewolves.) Selene managed to escape their clutches just long enough to be rescued by Viktor's forces. Viktor was a vampire, and gave her the gift of immortality that night. She has since spent her eternity as a Death Dealer, hunting down and exterminating lycans in revenge for her slaughtered family.
Although the exact location of her coven -- the Ordoghaz -- is never revealed, their accents would suggest that they are located somewhere in Europe, perhaps still in Hungary. They have evolved beyond the need for feeding on humans, relying instead on synthetic blood created by a biomedical research company that they own. She seems to be the black sheep of her decadent household, preferring to focus on her work rather than indulge in their superficial lifestyle.
Ever the bitter, stoic girl, Selene is hardly one to mince words. She doesn't stick around to exchange pleasantries. She gets in, gets what she needs, and gets out. The trip is usually quicker, however, if she lets her guns do the talking.
As with any vampire, Selene has extraordinary self-healing abilities. Almost any wound inflicted upon her closes within a few moments. She also seems to possess superhuman agility, and is most skilled with guns and heavy artillery of all sorts. However, such wonderful abilities do come with a price. She cannot go into direct sunlight without getting severely burned... burned to death if she remains long enough.
In Rivelata
Selene is something of a lurker on the island. She put herself up in the Crimson Dragon Inn initially, but eventually ventured out to find her own two-bedroom home. The limited amount of time that she actually has to go outside doesn't aid in her already antisocial tendencies.
During the rise of Zikhadhara, Selene was struck with a compulsion to make the journey into the jungle. Accompanied by Fay D. Flourite, with whom she shared many common physical traits, she made her way into the forest. However, after spending some time among the cultists, Fay and Selene seemed to lose interest, and returned to town rather disgruntled for being jipped out of a decent meal.
When Rivelata instated their new financial system, Selene took Marian Fitzwalter in as a roommate at the rate of two ladies per month. She was also seen commonly in the company of Jade Curtiss, though the nature of their relationship was a mystery to most people. It was about this time Selene grew quite tired of feeding on monkeys rather than the artificial blood she was accustomed to. She hired some of the brightest minds on the island to work toward developing a fitting artificial alternative. While this never came to fruition, it should be noted that the laboratory remains in the basement of that residence to this day.
Zikhadhara's activities began to grow in frequency, and the threat of some detriment coming to the island was growing with it. After a particularly unpleasant monsoon, the field of corpses were flooded into the river that fed into the ocean. Needless to say, this created a completely unbearable stench that only grew as the dam of fetid bodies remained. Selene enlisted the help of a few intestinally fortitudious individuals to drag the river. Unfortunately, this attracted the attention of the temple guardians, and for the next week or so the city was viciously attacked by the flying snakes.
Michael Corvin, a man from Selene's home, called Rivelata home for a short while. She even attended the Hiitachin ball with him, much to Jade's chagrin. He did not linger long, though while he was around, Selene learned the truth behind her mentor's centuries-long deception. This was reinforced later by a very revealing dream, and it took quite some time for Selene to come to terms with that. After the events of the snake attack, Selene found herself feeling a bit less safe alone in her home, as Marian had also disappeared. She moved into one of the apartments in Jade's lofts, and became the sole proprietor of the place after Jade and Peony's deaths. (It should also be noted that she strung his murderer up to the palace gates after torturing the man for two solid days.)
Perhaps Selene's most notable contribution to date is her defeat of the Godking Zikhadhara. After the reforging of the Garnet of Journeys, the Godking was in a weakened state... and Selene was tired of his ********.
Selene lived quietly for quite some time, allowing people to come and go from her lofts and continuing her patrols nightly in the city. It was one such night that she decided to take a man home for the hell of it. Her nights with Youji were casual at first, though she's started getting "attached". She hasn't yet worked out exactly what this might mean.
