Character Background
Susumu is a shinobi, and gathers information both by day and night. At night he is the picture-perfect example of a classical ninja. He uses Kunai and a wide knowledge of poisons and stealth tactics. By day, he dresses as an astonishingly beautiful woman, wearing expensive kimono and pulling his hair into ornate styles along with makeup and a perfect persona to match. Dressing as a woman, he speaks to men and uses his skill and beauty to learn information for the Shinsengumi's benefit. When he is not dressed as Ninja, or woman- He looks like an average young male, though older than his 16 years. he dons kimonos and powders his face, transforming himself into a beautiful lady so as to collect information for the Shinsengumi. His female name is Osei, and he embodies the traditional Japanese belief in aesthetics. Pale, demure and graceful.

He is very cold to those around him who are not his superiors. He can be rude, harsh and downright arrogant to those who he considers below him or even his equal. He has an explosive temper, and be quiet violent at times to those that he considers to get in his way or bother him. To those he serves, he gives nothing but the utmost loyalty and respect. As a true ninja, he is loyal to the point of dying for those that command him, especially Hijikata. He is very serious about himself as a Ninja, and was raised as one since childhood by his older sister. Despite the fact Susumu is a ninja, being around Samurai so often and for so long has given him Samurai ideals that are not accepted by most Ninja. Honor and morals are two of those ideals, as Ninja are supposed to DO, and not THINK. His older sister Ayumu was his only family, and due to the stiff way Ayumu raised him in the Ninja code- the two did not get along. When Ayumu was caught during an undercover mission, she was killed- leaving Susumu alone. Beneath the rough exterior and frigidity is a very sensitive and hurt young man that feels quite alone. He has never experienced a friend.
